Air Filters Whole House
Question regarding pet odor and air vents?
We keep our litter box in the basement where our HVAC unit is also located. I've never had a problem with my 2 cats having accidents but I think that they might have found a scent in our new house and have gone a few times outside of the box. Anyway, anytime the air or heat runs the whole house smells from cat--something that I've never experienced in 15 years of pet ownership--and I am quite embarrassed. My husband has moved the litter box as far away from the unit as possible and we have had the vents cleaned. He even changed the filter and added a fragrance to it but nothing seems to work. His next step is to empty the basement and completely scrub the walls and floors--it is unfinished--with either vinegar or Nature's Miracle. Has anyone had a similar problem that they might be able to share a solution with me?
We have this problem from time to time too. I notice it only when it is damp in the basement (ours is unfinished too). I keep the litter box clean and i put dryer sheets in the vents. When the air kicks on....smells like Bounce.
