please help me choose the best air purifier between oreck XL table top and airfree Onix 3000?
Im planning to buy air purifier for our room, the one thats no need to replace filters cause its too expensive. im choosing between oreck table top and airfree onix 3000, can anybody help me choose the best or is there any other purifier thats better that doesnt need to replace the filter?
Just looked at the specs for the Onix3000 & I really do not understand how this thing is capable of doing what it claims.
There is no filter to trap cigarette smoke particulates, pollen,mold, pet dander or any other type of particulate matter.
There are no fans, so how does it effectively move any volume of air, let alone 5,200 cubic feet of air...that's a room 10 feet wide & 65 feet long, with an 8 foot ceiling.
If there are no replaceable parts, what develops the sterilizing action...their 'blue anti-stress light'? I think not ! ! !
I also looked at the Oreck and it is much better, design wise, than the Onix, however, while it may clean some of the air around it, I do not believe that it can scrub the air (the technology used in submarines) as it is too small.
Replacing the standard filter, in your home heating & air system, with a micro particulate filter will trap more particulates and clean more air at less than 1/12 of the cost of the Oreck & less than 1/9 the cost of the Onix.
In my opinion, these things may do, initially, what they say they can do, but will NEVER do what YOU THINK they will do for you...it is physically impossible given their size & design.
Actually, I do not believe any of these small, table top of floor units will perform to your expectations.
Just the opinion of a mechanical engineer.....

Does anyone know if this is a vacuum issue?

I was told vacuum leak, but with this car, I do not know where to start. This is what I have done. Engine Tune-Up complete fuel filter Trani rebuild, both arts and Oh valves, the van will not start doing this until the last An oil change was done at Firestone, and refuse to help solve the problem.
All those things do sound like a vacuum leak. A good way to discover it is a cheap vacuum pump gauge. Then, pull the vacuum lines goes to various things, put a hole in them with a pump and see if that is the source of the leak. You can also connect outside the lines that go to different things while the engine is idling and see if that affects rpm.

Question regarding pet odor and air vents?
We keep our litter box in the basement where our HVAC unit is also located. I've never had a problem with my 2 cats having accidents but I think that they might have found a scent in our new house and have gone a few times outside of the box. Anyway, anytime the air or heat runs the whole house smells from cat--something that I've never experienced in 15 years of pet ownership--and I am quite embarrassed. My husband has moved the litter box as far away from the unit as possible and we have had the vents cleaned. He even changed the filter and added a fragrance to it but nothing seems to work. His next step is to empty the basement and completely scrub the walls and floors--it is unfinished--with either vinegar or Nature's Miracle. Has anyone had a similar problem that they might be able to share a solution with me?
We have this problem from time to time too. I notice it only when it is damp in the basement (ours is unfinished too). I keep the litter box clean and i put dryer sheets in the vents. When the air kicks on....smells like Bounce.

How do I reset the indicator light on my air purifier HAP422B Holmes?! ?
I searched the web in vain. Same download the manual on the website of Holmes, but everything he says, is that some purifiers an indicator light is delivered to zero by inserting a pin into the reset button. Where is the reset button?!?! I searched on the button around the button behind Filters ... go a little crazy now!
The units have a HAP243/HAP422 (LED) should be restored as soon as the HEPA filter was replaced. Reset flag by inserting a small object (eg a pin or clip) in the hole marked RESET. There must be a small hole marked reset indicator around, see Figure 2 in manual attached.
