Will put the filter material on the return of cold air reduces the efficiency furnaces?

I have a ton of dust in the house and thought it cuttable filter registration material placed inside the return air grille cold may help. I wonder if this will achieve nothing (house still a lot of dust), or inadvertantely if I make the performance of the oven.

My first job in the HVAC business was cleaning the ducts and can not believe how many "things" to clean the ducts of the major houses. Most customers did duct cleaning due to allergy or asthma problems. I also recommend that you install an air electrostatic clean after you finish cleaning. If you live in an old house, your best starting point would be to get the ducts professionally cleaned. You can add filters to your material cold air grills, and shall have no effect airflow drastically, if you replace them regularly, if you leave them too long and become part connected you have problems begain oven. Your oven will begin to short cycle it will not be getting enough air flow, which oven will lead to failure. I honestly do not recommend it, I've been in the homes of customers who have done this and eventually start to forget to change the filters, until I introduced to work in your oven. You'd be better to leave the grill alone and have a electrostatic air cleaner installed on your heating system making a much better job of keeping the dust down to regular filters. Adding a whole house humidifier will help keep the dust down as well. Also a vacuum with a HEPA filter cause a big impact on your dust problem. Call a reputable HVAC company in your area and have a look at the ducts and the filter, probably can help.
