If you have a dog and allergies, there are a few accessories that will make caring for your pet and keeping your home much more friendlily for both the pet and your allergies.
First, you will need to have a dog bed for the pet. Allowing the pet to have his or her own bed helps to keep them out of your bed. If you have a small dog, then you will want to choose a small dog bed; however, if you have one of the giant dog breeds, you will want to make sure that you have an extra large dog bed. A bed that has a washable cover that zips on and off makes laundering the bed easier and helps to keep pet hair, dander and smell to a minimum.
You are also going to need a good vacuum cleaner. The vacuum helps to keep pet hair and dander picked up off of both bare floors and carpets. There is a Dyson upright vacuum cleaner made especially for homes that have pets called the Dyson animal. These particular vacuums have enough suction to pick up the hair and an effective filtration system that will keep it enclosed until the vacuum is emptied.
If your pet sleeps in an unheated room, there may be times, especially when you are experiencing very cold weather that you will need to add some heat to the room. A Delonghi space heater, when placed out of reach of the pet, can provide the needed heat to help keep your pet warm. If the pet is sleeping in a laundry room, the heater is also a cost effective way to keep pipes from freezing.
For bathing your pet, choose a handheld shower head. This will allow you to use the warm water of the bathtub to wash the pet and is very effective at removing shampoo for the pet’s hair. Your pet will be much more willing to take a winter bath in warm water and will smell much better.
Be sure that you provide your pet with their own dishes for food and water.
Ceramic dishes are heavier than plastic and less likely to tip.
Stainless steel food and water dishes are very long lasting and virtually indestructible.
