Trane Heating and Air Conditioning of questions?
I have a great Trane heat pump in my house. My question is this, the thermostat is placed in the wall in the hallway directly into the air intake and filter are located above the ceiling. It seems that this is the coldest place draftiest and home because that is where consumption is drawing in air. Would not the system do a better job if the thermostat is moved to a place where the air temperature is more constant? Thanks!

Do not install the thermostat where it can be affected by: Drafts or dead spots behind doors and in the "Hot or air esquinas. conductos. from cold-air return near cold. Radiant sun or appliances. concealed heat pipes and chimeneas.-unheated (uncooled), such as a wall outside behind the thermostat. So it away from the path of return air, you're right.
