would an air purifier / iodinizer rid of really bad kitchen cooking smells?

kitchen next to my kitchen my neighbor and Armenia is the worst smell of cooking! (garlic), I am sorry if any of you arrmenian r but serious. will help air purifier odor? I tried to use incense and nothign works! i hate it b / ci can not take a bath or to be in the bathroom without being raised by the smell and I do not have a hole in the bathroom - just cooking for me and are too cheap to install. I complained, but believe me, they say there is nothing they can do - nobody can say that lady stop cooking! and that it will not air extractor ...
