Allergies Type 5

Allergies Type 5 is also called stimulatory allergy. Instead of the antibodies binding to the cell components as they do in type 2 allergies the antibodies bind to the receptors on the surface of the cells. This binding to the receptors will stop or slow down the signals transmitted between cells. This is a minor difference between allergies type 2 and allergies type 5 and is mainly used in Britain to distinguish between the two types.

Two example of Allergies Type 5 are Graves Disease and Myasthenia Gravis.

Graves Disease is an enlarged thyroid gland or goiter, which may be seen as a swelling in the neck, and a condition called Exophthalmia (protruding eyeballs, one or both eyes). The tissue behind the eyes becomes swollen, causing the characteristic bulging eyes. The thickening of the skin, described as orange peel is usually observed on the legs. The orange peel effect is caused by the inflammation of the cells under the skin.

Symptoms include increased appetite with a weight loss, fatigue, excess sweating, heat intolerance, and trembling hands. This disease is likely to occur eight times more often in women than in men. It is speculated that there may be a genetic cause for Graves Disease but no evidence of a genetic defect has been found.

Myasthenia Gravis is a disease that causes muscle weakness and is caused by antibodies circulating in the blood stream blocking the receptors on the muscle cells. The muscle weakness increases during periods of activity and gets better after resting. Muscles that control the eyes and facial area are usually affected first and show up as a difficulty in swallowing and slurred speech and a weakness of the eye muscles. In sever cases the muscles that control breathing are affected and assisted ventilation is needed to maintain life.

Symptoms include a drooping of one or both eyelids, double vision, unstable or waddling gate, a change or uneven facial expression, and shortness of breath. Diagnosis is performed by a blood test that identifies the specific antibody found in the blood stream.

Common Vitamins and over the counter products can help with Allergies Type 2 such as Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Pantothenic Acid, Glucosamine, Antioxidants, Allergy Aid, and Quercitin.

Vitamin A is a known antioxidant and can assist the human body in the healing process. Vitamin A is stored in the liver and fat cells of the human body and can reach toxic levels. DO NOT take more than the recommended dosage of Vitamin A.

Up to one-third of older people can no longer absorb Vitamin B from their food. Vitamin B is needed to form red blood cells and keep nerves healthy.

Vitamin C is nature's protective nutrient, essential for defending the body against pollution and infection and enhances the bodies immune system.

Beta Carotene protects the mucus membranes of the mouth, nose, throat and lungs. It also helps protect Vitamin C from oxidation, which enables it to perform at optimum efficiency.

Vitamin E protects the lung tissue from inhaled pollutants and aids in the functioning of the immune system.

Many find Pantothenic Acid to be very helpful against allergy symptoms. It is another form of nontoxic B vitamins. Pantothenic Acid is critical in the metabolism and synthesis of carbohydrates, proteins and fats.

Glucosamine is an anti-inflammatory and may give some relief from allergy symptoms.

Substances called antioxidants can neutralize free radical by pairing up or binding with the free radical elections thus inhibiting them from damaging cells in the human body.

Allergy Aid supplies 9 beneficial Herb's to help provide temporary relief of respiratory allergies. The natural action of these specific Herb's help to open bronchial tubes and ease breathing.

Quercitin is a well known flavonoid. Flavonoids are powerful antioxidants and can reduce inflammation boost the immune system and strengthen blood vessels and improve circulation. Quercitin is also known for its ability to block the release of histamines, thus reducing or preventing allergy symptoms.

Understanding Chronic Sinus Infection

When the mucosal lining of the sinuses remains constantly inflamed, the condition is known as chronic sinus infection. There is a natural healing mechanism in our body. If a sinus infection is mild, we seldom feel the severe symptoms of chronic sinusitis. When our immune system is not at its best and we suffer a mild sinus infection, the healing process is delayed and this worsens to acute sinusitis and thereafter, chronic sinusitis. Another term for chronic sinusitis is recurrent sinus infection. They mean the same thing.

Causes of Sinus Infections

Most sinus infections appear after you have suffered from a common cold, viral influenza or allergies. With these illnesses, the main culprit is nasal congestion.

Top 5 Chronic Sinus Infection Symptoms

1. Nasal obstruction. The causes of nasal congestion could be due to allergies related to certain food groups, pollens, fungi and other foreign matters. Nasal congestion can also be caused by nasal polyps and a deviated septum within the nose.

2. Nasal discharge. Nasal mucus discharge could be colored yellow or green in color indicating a possible bacterial infection. Foul-smelling discharge could mean bacterial infection of the maxillary sinuses arising from a dental problem.

3. Postnasal drip. On waking up in the morning, if a lot of mucus have collected overnight, it is one of the significant chronic sinus infection symptoms. It is also common to find a sudden mass of clear, sticky and thick mucus draining down the nasopharynx occasionally.

4. Coughing frequently. If a person has a persistent cough which does not go away with prescribed medication, sinusitis is suspected.

5. Eustachian tube dysfunction. Chronic sinusitis sufferers often suffer from the feeling that their ears are clogged up. This is caused by the sticky mucus obstructing the openings of the eustachian tubes. Sometimes, the eustachian tubes can become inflamed and producing abnormally thick mucus as well.

Chronic Sinus Infection Treatment

If there is no abnormality of the nose structure, then prescribing antibiotics to treat the bacterial sinus infection would be appropriate. Antibiotic which work against only a few types of bacteria are classified as narrow-spectrum antibiotics.

Broad-spectrum antibiotics, on the other hand, affect many types of bacteria. However, the use of broad-spectrum antibiotics presents the danger of promoting antibiotic resistance.

For chronic sinus infection treatment, the ENT specialists would favor the use of a broad-spectrum antibiotic. Avelox® (moxifloxacin) and Cedax® (Ceftibuten dihydrate) are highly recommended for sinus infection treatment.

Antihistamines and corticosteroids are also often prescribed to clear symptoms of allergy and any inflammation respectively.

Allergy Treatment

Allergies are abnormal reactions to normally harmless substances. The allergens can be inhaled, swallowed or come into contact with the skin.

Allergens that most frequently cause problems are: pollen, mold, dust, foods, animal dander, insect bites, insect spores, viruses and bacteria.

Normally the human body learns to defend itself though experience. That is by attacking a foreign substance that has invaded and harming the body by producing antibodies. The best know of these antibodies are called histamines. Some times the immune system mistakenly recognizes a foreign to be harmful when it is not. This can lead to the overproduction of histamines specially designed to destroy the specific foreign substance.

If the overproduction of the histamines is large enough the surrounding tissue is also damaged resulting in sneezing, a stuffy head, sniffing, stuffed-up head, read and watery eyes or a skin rash.

A person with Allergies is burdened with an overprotective immune system and is forever on guard against everyday things that don't bother the rest of us. It might be a cute affectionate kitten, a patch of green grass, to a slice of fresh garden tomato.

Some of us can roll in poison ivy and come out without any problems, while others can merely brush up against a few leaves of the stuff and there are scratching for weeks. In most cases, allergies are more annoying that debilitating but to the extreme allergy suffers life can be pure misery or even death.

There are four main types of Allergic Reactions:

Type 1.
Foods, mold, animal dander, pollen, or dust can cause an immediate allergy attack. Whey your body responds to the invasion, your body releases histamine from the irritated area such as the skin, nasal and bronchial areas.

Type 2.
Allergens combine with healthy cells in the your body and attack the health cells. This is common in upper gastro intestinal tack.

Type 3.
Allergens invade the immune system and can cause injury to cells throughout the body.

Type 4.
T-cells become activated and result in an inflammation of the effected area. An example of this is a rash caused by poison ivy.

Type 5.
Instead of the antibodies binding to the cell components as they do in type 2 allergies the antibodies bind to the receptors on the surface of the cells.

We all carry a heavy load of various stress factors that slowly wear out our immune systems, over the years, making us more susceptible to allergy attacks. We are exposed to many more environmental pollutants and industrial toxins that ever before in history.

No mater what type of allergy you are suffering from their is a good chance that you can find relief from it. You can fight allergies with vitamins and over the counter products.

Loads of individuals aren't yet aware that such health assistance plans exist, in spite of the fact that such plans have been here for numerous years by now. Not being informed of this exceptional package leaves lots of americans incapable to provide the medical consideration they must have for their physical condition. People are left with no choice except to be satisfied with prescription drugs which some may just have enough money to provide for themselves. However, not anymore with many aid programs.

Now, as soon as the patient qualifies for their program, he should take delivery of the prescription medicine straight to his residence from the prescription drug company. Nevertheless, the person needs to verify vigilantly that these prescription medications in such health assistance are the same pharmacurtical drugs he sees in the local pharmacy, and the same medication made by the same drug company.

One of the several reasons people may possibly be in critical need of prescription drug help is the fact that not everybody could manage to pay for personal medical insurance. But with drug help programs, you may avail medication assistance ordinarily for free, or maybe for a slight fee, depending on the qualifications of a individual pharmaceutical company. Wouldn’t it be splendid to receive these benefits and secure your wellbeing? A couple of the broad qualifications of these plans are, foremost, the individual needs to be a US resident, and next, a person has to meet the minimum level of salary.

So, how might you in fact search for such types of plans? The patient may stick to these straightforward steps:

1. Find out who produces that particular prescription medication the consumer uses.
2. Make use of Google search and type in the name of the pharmaceutical company, along with terms such as prescription assistance or prescription medication help.
3. The individual will uncover a number of organizations which will assist the individual to qualify. There are companies that can charge a specific fee, or may perhaps charge absolutely nothing. Be wary and choosy when dealing with them though.
4. After you have seen the likely programs, nearly all of the questions those  pharmaceutical companies might ask for from the patient are the similar items your doctor would request.
5. The claim form might be sent to the individual via snail mail. Fill it out and you do need to ask your doctor to endorse it too.
6. The preliminary process is easy, however it possibly will take a while to be finally accepted. But once your paperwork qualifies, what a immense relief it might be for you and your children.

Low-income persons don’t have to always go through the consequences of not having adequate dollars to pay for health care bills or medicine. If there are non-profit firms which are eager to supply prescription medicine help programs, why not seize the opportunity and look after your interests without too much trouble?

Though all of these terms is usually integrated below the broad period Health and Real Fitness, they individually refer to several elements - each generic and precise. Allergies Type 4

Allergies Type 4 is also called cell-mediated or delayed allergies. When T-cells become activated and result in an inflammation of the effected area. Unlike the other type of allergies, type 4 is not antibody related but rather is a type of cell-mediated response. An example of this is a rash caused by poison ivy.

Allergies type 4 is often called hypersensitivity or delayed type of reaction that takes two or three days to develop. The activation of macrophages, natural killer cells, and T-lympohcytes involves the release of various cytokines in response to an antigen.

Cytokines are a group of proteins and peptides are used to allow one cell to communicate with another. The cytokines are released by many types of cells and are involved with a variety of responses to inflammatory and infection diseases. They can have effects on both nearby cells or throughout the entire human body.

Cytokines cause white blood cells to turn into macrophages. These macrophages eat foreign substances in the body but they can also damage normal tissue. This damage to normal tissue results in the inflammation of the skin, or skin rash that occurs with poison ivy.

Sensitivity can develop over time and may not appear when you are expose to the irritant the first several times. A good example of this is the growing number of healthcare workers that are becoming allergic allergic to latex after regular and prolonged exposure to latex examination gloves. Other causes for healthcare workers allergic reactions are frequent washing of the hands, incomplete drying, hand sanitizers and zinc oxide.

Egg Allergy

If you have an Egg Allergy then you suffer from Allergies Type 1, also called Contact Allergies. The immune system overreacts to the proteins found in the eggs. The immune system products antibodies that are designed to fight off the harmful egg proteins. The reason the body overacts to certain foods is not clear and more studies are needed.

The proteins found in the egg whites usually cause allergic to eggs reaction but in rare cases some individuals have been know to be allergic to the yolks of eggs. People with allergies to eggs have a good chance of being allergic to chicken products. As your body becomes sensitized to the eggs allergens, you may react to the ingestion of chicken products as well.

Most food allergy reactions usually happen within a few minutes to a few hours after eating the eggs. Most mild to moderate reactions last less than a day and can involve a rash on the skin, cramps, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, runny nose, watery eyes, wheezing and coughing.

Prior to seeing any allergy specialist for testing on egg allergies you will need to stop taking any anti-allergy medication or over the counter antihistamines 2 to 3 days before the test are to be performed. Talk to the allergy specialist if you are unsure about any medications that need to be stopped and for how long.

The allergic to eggs testing involves putting a liquid extract of the egg protein on your body, usually the back or forearm, and then scratching the skin slightly. If you develop hives, or red bumps, or the skin turns reddish in color and itches then these symptoms could indicate a positive result for allergies to eggs.

Another test that can be performed is called The Food Challenge. You are told to avoid all egg-containing foods for several weeks. Avoidance can be very difficult because egg protein is often hidden in other foods. Read the labels of every food that you bring into your home. Because the manufacturing processes change continuously re-read the labels each time you purchase a product. On January 1, 2006 a new law was passed stating that all labels should be designed in such a way that a 7-year-old child could read and understand the ingredients.

The doctor will then have you eat only eggs under close supervision. If symptoms appear after eating the egg products then you are allergic to eggs and will need to avoid anything that has on the label, contains egg ingredients, made using egg ingredients, or made in a facility that also processes eggs.

Alcohol Allergy

If you truly have an Alcohol Allergy then you suffer from Allergies Type 1, also called Contact Allergies. Doctor Vincent Crump of the Auckland Allergy Clinic suggests that it is more often than not, the other ingredients that cause the allergic reaction such as yeast and sulfur dioxide instead of the alcohol itself.

It is unknown how may people suffer from allergies to alcohol products because many of the normal symptoms associated with drinking alcohol are also associated with allergic reaction. Redding of the skin on the face and neck, itchy eyes and nose, hives, loss of motor functions, vomiting, and eczema are typical reactions to the contents of wine and beer and also symptoms of allergic alcohol reactions.

Some people of Asian descent experience an unusual flushing reaction after ingestion of alcohol. This is believed to be cause by a genetic disorder. The body is unable to break down alcohol properly. It has been suggested that anyone who experiences a flushing reaction after drinking alcohol could be at risk for cancer of the esophagus, liver disease, and other alcohol-related conditions.

Sulfur Dioxide has been added to wines since the Roman times. Is inhibits yeast growth, preventing the wine from turning into vinegar thus giving wine a longer shelf life. Sulfur Dioxide also helps to give aged wine the its many distinct flavors. There are limits to the amount additional sulfur dioxide winemakers are permitted to add. Wines containing more that 25 parts per million of sulfur dioxide are required to be listed on the wine label.

Allergies to yeast found in wine and beer, although rare, may cause allergic reaction and is usually manifested in the form of hives.

Red wine contains more histamine than White wines. Taking antihistamines prior to drinking wines may help reduce the allergic effects of histamines. Fruit wines contain lower levels of histamines than wines made of grapes.

Egg white is commonly used in the fining process. Fining is the process where unwanted organisms are remove by the addition of egg whites or bentonite. The solids fall out of suspension and are removed, thus creating a clear wine. None of the egg white or bentonite is supposed to remain in the wine after the fining process is completed so egg whites and bentonite are not listed on the label as part of the wine ingredients.

If you are unsure what is giving you problems you could try the Food Challenge Test. Avoid all allergy causing foods and drinks for several weeks. The doctor will then give you a pill of each suspected agent one at a time under close supervision. If symptoms appear within two hours after the taking the pill then you have an Alcohol Allergy and will need to avoid it.

Common Vitamins and over the counter products can help with treating the allergy symptoms such as Vitamin E, Aloe Vera, and Quercitin.

Vitamin E accelerates wound healing and aids in the functioning of the immune system. Vitamin E can be taken internally or applied as a lotion to the affected areas of the skin.

Aloe Vera will help rejuvenate and tone skin all over. A naturally cooling gel, the Aloe Vera botanical ingredients work together to stimulate the blood circulation and naturally soften the skin.

Quercitin is a well-known flavonoid. Flavonoids are powerful antioxidants and can reduce inflammation boost the immune system and strengthen blood vessels and improve circulation. Quercitin is also known for its ability to block the release of histamines, thus reducing or preventing allergy symptoms.

Wheat Allergy

If you have Wheat Allergy then you suffer from Allergies Type 1, also called Contact Allergies. The allergic reaction to wheat intolerance is caused by one or more of the 4 main groups of proteins found in wheat. The 4 proteins groups consist of, water-soluble, salt-soluble, alcohol-soluble and alcohol-insoluble. Different proportion of the proteins is found in wheat depending on the type of wheat being tested.

Scientists do not clearly understand why the immune system of people allergic to wheat considers some food proteins as harmful by the body. The immune system can mount a variety of defenses mechanisms against proteins that is considers as harmful or foreign. Symptoms can be very mild to life-threatening depending on the severity of your wheat allergies. They usually occur within a few minutes to a few hours after eating or inhaling wheat.

The proteins found in wheat trigger the immune system to reaction. Antibodies and histamines are releases into the blood stream in an attempt to neutralize the wheat protein. These chemicals trigger the allergic symptoms. In sever cases Epinephrine, also call Adrenaline, is administered to control the anaphylaxis reaction.

Except for specific groups, being allergic to wheat is considered relatively uncommon. Up to 30 percent of people in the baking industry is believed to have developed occupation asthma because of allergies or intolerance to wheat and flower.

Diagnosis of wheat allergies is usually performed by appropriate laboratory skin prick test. Self-diagnosis of wheat allergies can be done if a person has the same reaction every time after eating wheat-containing food. However the self-diagnosis is usually difficult because wheat is usually consumed with other foods and the type of wheat proteins varies greatly.

Avoidance of wheat-containing foods is the only effective treatment for people who are allergic to wheat. Avoidance can be very difficult because wheat protein is often hidden in other foods. Until a cure is found, read the labels of every food that you bring into your home. Because the manufacturing processes change continuously re-read the labels each time you purchase a product. On January 1, 2006 a new law was passed stating that all labels should be designed in such a way that a 7 year old child could read and understand the ingredients.

Avoid any food products that have Wheat, Bran, Bread Crumbs, Cereal Extract, Natural Flavoring, Starch, Vegetable Gum, Soy Sauce, Gluten, or Enriched Flower on the label until you know if that particular item will give you an Wheat Allergy reaction.
