What is the best home a / c filter system for people who suffer from allergies and asthma?

I've looked at a house around expensive filters UV lights and the great control of dust, pollen and mold. Do these systems work? Are there other more cost-effective ways to clean the air?

Ok, monitoring bullcrap tremendous response ... let me share something with you. Im allergic to cigarette smoke gives me horrible asthma and bhronchitis if I get too. Well, I lived in a fraternity house for 5 years with the smokers ... and for the first 3 years I was constantly ill. Then appeared on television and ordered what i Ion Breeze Sharper Image, and I was about halfway through the grief with my breathing. This thing works guy, and easy to clean and do not have to buy filters. Give it a shot.

Medicare Advantage Plans and the Open Enrollment Period Explained

Most people are already aware of the gaps within the original Medicare plan. For example, there's no " stop loss " feature. Other health insurance policies will pay 100 percent toward certain medical services after you meet your deductible, for example, you might have to pay $1,500 per year before your benefits will kick in. If you happen to have original Medicare and need hospital care or must enter a  nursing home, this applies to you. Many people buy Medicare Supplemental (Medigap) Insurance policies to fill in the gaps within their existing coverage, which might include co-payments or deductibles. Some of the Medicare Advantage Plans cover all the same services Original Medicare covers, and potentially some it doesn't.

These plans are offered in some parts of the country through private long term care insurance companies, but are still part of the Medicare program. If you are planning to switch to a Medicare Advantage Plan, now's the perfect time. The open enrollment for Medicare Advantage plan extends from January 1st to March 31st. You are eligible for a Medicare Advantage Plan if you currently have Medicare Part A or Part B. You will, however, need to see doctors and use hospitals within the plan, much like you would with an HMO. If you'd like to switch plans, keep in mind that you cannot drop Medicare prescription drug coverage. If your existing plan has prescription drug coverage, then your new one needs to have it as well.

For more information on the plans available in your area, visit Medicare's web site or call 1-800-633-4227. Your new plan should be effective on the first of the month after  your request is received. Are you still not sure of what Medicare plans cover? Gilbert Guide lists all of the major types of insurance as well as what they cover. For a detailed explanation, check out Gilbert Guide's Medicare Explained or Senior Care Reimbursement Overview, which will show you where each type of insurance pays benefits. That about covers it; Lori Deschene

Family Caregivers: Talking with Physicians

Many family caregivers are thrust into a role for which they are ill-prepared. Meeting with medical professionals can be intimidating, as we are living in a society that thinks doctors in white coats are seen beyond reproach and are sometimes unapproachable. But as all family caregivers know, it is their job to ensure that the family member's needs are seen to, always remember that that person depends on their advocacy. Patients and senior care caregivers often feel that physicians and medical professionals are too busy to "hear" their concerns. Below are a few tips to make sure you get the most out of your doctor's visits.

Before Your Appointment - Be prepared, have salient and detailed information for your physician. For example, " My father hasn't been feeling well "  is not as easy for a doctor to assess as " my father has had a fever for two days that was over 100°F. He also has had tingling sensations in his left leg for four hours. "

Always keep a list of all health concerns and then put them in order of importance. This list will help you bring up any home care issues, and keep both you and your physician focused on what matters to you.

During Your Appointment  -  Pay attention. The likelihood that you will retain everything that the doctor explains to you, especially if it isn't good news, is slim. Help yourself recall the information your physician tells you by using the 3 R's: record, write or rope in a relative or friend. Take notes during the conversation or directly after, when information is fresh in your mind. Taking a small tape or digital recorder with you can also be helpful. Having a second set of ears listening may also help you decipher the full meaning of the information later on.  Ask for clarification when a term or concept doesn't make sense to you.

Specialists sometimes use a lot of medical jargon. Make sure that you are communicating with no problems. Doctors often are very busy people. Always remember to listen to what they are saying. Don't waste anyone;s time, including your own, by rambling on in conversation. Make certain they know your feelings, a doctor can only guess until you say something.  Both doctors and caregivers are in the business of helping people. Go in prepared to make sure you get the most out of the experience, and keep in mind that you came to provide long term care to another person.

Teens weight loss

You have probably heard about the growing problems with teen obesity and overweight. Fat loss for teenagers is really important because if nothing is done it can lead into chronic & mental diseases in the future. Therefore it is of great importance to prevent teens in becoming overweight before it is to late.

To learn more about how teens can lose fat you can click here: How To Lose Weight For Teenagers

The secret to teenage-weight loss is a balanced nutritional plan containing a mixture of proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, fats, salt and water among other vital things Teens need a diet containing vitamins, carbohydrates, minerals, fats, salt & water to succed. The 2. important thing the teen should be aware of is doing exercise and a lot of of sports and other activities. While the teenager is on diet it is a great idea to visit a doctor who will advice and motivate the teens to reach their goal.

For teens to get rid of fat a little work is required. The weight loss process may take months and maybe years. To start with junk food & unhealthy food should be cut away or at least be cut to a minimum. It is recommendable that the teen prepare the food at home and do not take the easy way and eat out as this can lead to wrong nutrition.

If You want to know more about teenagers weight loss Click Here

It is good to start with creating a plan for how much the teenager wants to lose. It isn’t a clever to just consume less as this will harm the teenager’s health and result in a weight increase. To prevent wrong fluctuations when it comes to the nutrition level, it is essential that the protein, nutrition and carbohydrate levels are kept on the right level.

Taking part in sports and other activities are important for the teenagers who want to lower their weight, but if they are not use to being active a good choice can be to walk to start with. Walk the dog, the nabos dog or walk together with friends, it is essential to get the body up & working.

If you do not like to walk, bicycling is also a good way to start up exercising. You can also get a lot of good exercise from jogging if the bicycle don´t suit the teenager.

In general sports like basketball, tennis, swimming etc. are all fun activities and at the same time a good way to lose weight.

Sweets and snacking are not going very well along with dieting and it may therefore be really difficult for the teenager to overcome this part of the dieting program. Substitute the unhealthy snacks and sweets with healthy vegetables like carrots, beets, salat tomatoes. There are few proteins in most vegetables & because proteins are vital for the body’s ability to build up muscles the fat loss program should also include milk, eggs and low fat cheese.

Two liters of pure water should be the minimum amount for a teenager as it increases the metabolic rate & flush out toxins & wastes from the organism.

The last step is a very easy one for a typical teenager, this step is simply about getting approximately eigh hours of good sleep every night. Sleeping are regulating the carbohydrats, proteins & different nutrients which will lead to a healthy and fit body.

Advocate 101 for Family Caregivers: When your Loved One is Hospitalized

As a family caregiver, the short-term hospitalization of your loved one can be a very difficult situation whether he or she is living in a long-term care facility or at home. As the family caregiver, this change can be challenging at some points, especially as hospitalization normally points to an acute or unstable medical condition. Here are a few pointers for how to negotiate the situation. The most important issue at this point is that you have most of the information about your loved one's previous condition, so make sure that you share it.

Let the hospital staff know about any cognitive or physical impairments even if the information is already too obvious. For example, let the senior care assistants know that your loved one is unable to use an emergency call button at times due to arthritis or that he or she has a hard time following directions due to cognitive impairment, or even if she or he should not be given a cup of cofee even if they ask for it in the afternoon as they have dementia-related Sundowner's syndrome.  Remember to tell the hospital staff in regards to a person's dietary considerations or preferences. Small things can mean the world when placed in an unfamiliar hospital environment. A small favor such as asking to keep meals free from red meat for a person who doesn't like beef is one easy way to make sure that your loved one has some creature comforts.  Keep notes and pay attention. Hospitals are there to relieve acute medical problems and as such may overlook smaller background issues. However, it is your job to speak up in the event you feel your loved one is receiving improper care. Try to get as many visitors in to see your loved one as possible. Even short visits can raise a person's spirits'and provide a nice change or shift in a person's focus.

There are several internet-based sites that host free personal webpages specifically designed for caregivers so that they can post information with ease about their loved one who currently is hospitalized or in need of help. These pages allow concerned family members and friends to schedule visits, monitor progress and sign-up to help with any needed tasks. This ensures that a person can have several visitors over the course of a day rather than a bunch all at once.

Discharge is Just the Beginning.

Keep notes on medications and dosages for your loved one. If new medications appear on the discharge plan, make sure that you understand the dosage amounts, possible side-effects and what they are for. Check with the pharmacist to ensure there are no contraindications, especially with drugs already prescribed. Make certain the discharge plan has all prescriptions listed on it. Do not assume that previous prescriptions have been taken off or replaced unless you have been told so in absolute terms by a medical professional.  If your loved one now needs to move out from his or her home, then a list of possible long-term care facilities that meet your social, dietary. medical and financial requirements needs to be found. Take note that discharge planners might make referrals, but make certain they are aware of all your specific needs. (And, of course, Gilbert Guide offers information on how to find and assess the care options in your area.) If you have time, visit facilities and rank them according to your needs. Gilbert Guide offers an explanation and handy checklist of issues for both assisted and nursing living.

Hospitalization may result in changes to your loved one's life. Anything that can preserve some sense of continuity will help with the transition. If you have had doctor-prescribed home, health aides before the hospitalization and they were well liked and give proper care, then ask to keep them. If the same holds true for your homecare aides you should also voice your opinion on retaining them;if they can provide the level of care necessary. Try to learn as much as you can about your loved one's condition if it has changed. The Internet is a helpful resource, but should be tempered with information and recommendations from your loved one's physician. Make sure you understand all the ways in which you can provide the utmost in care for this new situation. Let's say that your loved one needs therapy, find out what the goals of the therapy are and if there are any exercises with which you can assist.  Throughout the course of your loved one;s hospitalization, remember that you are their voice. Do not be afraid to speak up and ask questions;as they may be unable or unwilling to do so. If you run into any problems you feel you cannot solve, most hospitals have an on-staff patient advocate that will be able to provide help.

How Is Acne Rosacea Related To Acne Vulgaris?

Both a skin disorder and eye disorder, acne rosacea is a type of acne characterized by the appearance of pustules and vascular manifestations on the affected tissues.  The medical term "rosacea" is frequently mis-spelled and is often seen as rosecea or roseaca.  Regardless of how the skin disease is spelled, the symptoms and mystery surrounding this socially disruptive disease is the same.

So far, the cause that triggers acne rosacea has not been given an explanation although it is known that sun exposure will increase the risk of disease development. The the facial area and chest are the most affected body parts both by the flushing and the pustules outbreak, and the disease tends to get worse after spicy food, hot drinks and alcohol. To understand better the symptoms of this skin disorder, search for "pictures of rosacea" on your computer to get a visual representation of the flushing, pustules and excess tissue growth symptoms.

Who Gets Acne Rosacea?

It seems that acne rosacea has been reported in more women than men, with the preponderance of the condition in the middle-aged group. Thus, most of the cases have been reported on people between 30 and 60, but here we ought to add that dark skin is more difficult to diagnose. Yet, there is not enough clinical proof to support the idea that acne rosacea affects fair-skinned people most of the times.

The acne rosacea lesions specific to the condition are most often distributed on the chin and cheeks, or in the nose area, but the central part of the forehead is also commonly affected. Although the oily appearance of the skin makes acne rosacea resemble acne vulgaris, differences do exist. In standard acne forms, comedones have no limitation of extent, whereas with rosacea they don't even appear in the flush areas. Moreover, acne rosacea is characterized by hypertrophy which is not experienced with acne vulgaris.

Acne Rosacea Treatments

Since acne rosacea is a chronic condition, its evolution usually expands over several years marked by critical episodes characterized by inflammation. Most often, topical corticosteroids are administered to minimize the intensity of the symptoms and to improve the overall condition, but they are not suitable for long-term therapy due to the tissue atrophy risk or the danger to cause permanent vaso-dilation. Most dermatologists will therefore go for the systemic treatment instead of the topical treatment.  However, many OTC rosacea applications, especially the ones made from natural ingredients, are available and actually are quite successful at providing relief to many rosacea sufferers.  One should look for rosacea product reviews at reputable websites prior to buying any of these products.

Depending on the skin symptoms caused by acne rosacea, surgical intervention could become necessary but only after running medical tests and at the special recommendation of a medical professional. The tunable dye laser procedure and electrocautery represent the two main alternatives under the circumstances, but skin grafting, dermabrasion and other forms of excision are also possible. Don't postpone the treatment of acne rosacea because the more time passes, the more difficult will be to cure it.

Causes Of Migraine Headaches – An Introduction

Migraine headaches can be debilitating issue that interferes severely with daily functioning and quality of life.  Preventing and treating migraine headaches, however, can be done effectively with a wide range of both over the counter and prescription drugs.  The exact causes of migraine headaches are still something of a mystery in the medical community. But, it is widely held that serotonin levels in the brain play a significant role in the formation of migraine headaches.  Low serotonin levels are usually accompanied by a migraine headache.

A migraine headache can sometimes be preceded by what is known as an "aura".  An aura occurs with what are called classic migraine headaches.  In a classic migraine attack, the sufferer may experience changes in vision, such as strange colors or spots that develop.  Tenderness in the scalp is usually a sign of a developing migraine episode.  Alterations in mood can also occur, such as depression or irritability.  These subtle symptoms can begin developing as much as a full day before the onset of a migraine attack.  The following migraine headaches are typically fairly intense, but do not last very long.

Common migraine headaches are a more prolonged variation of the problem, and can last for long periods of time.  This can be seriously debilitating, and can be a real impediment to daily life.  Fortunately, many medications exist to alleviate migraine pain.  Sleep and plenty of fluids are very important in helping to prevent the onset of migraine headaches.  During an attack, be sure to remain in a dark and quiet environment.  Use a cold compress to reduce the tension, and massage the scalp with a fair amount of pressure.  Stress is believed to be the top cause of migraine headaches, and should therefore be avoided as much as possible.

Some foods are also believed to be behind causes of migraine headaches.  Physicians recommend, for example, that red wine should be avoided by sufferers of migraine headaches.  Canned and processed meat are also known as frequent causes of migraine headaches.  Causes of migraine headaches can also include excess amounts of caffeine, aged cheese, or cultured dairy products.  If you suffer regular migraine headaches, see a physician for a full list of foods and beverages that should be avoided.

Learn About Black Hair Care Products

When talking about taking care of black hair one has to be be very careful as black hair is a bit more special. so as to have good results in taking care of your black hair, you must be informed about and use the best, that is the most effective and safest, black hair care products. For the best natural black hair care products you can either go to a black hair specialist, a stylist, or search the internet. As the internet provides you with lots of sites from various producers, traders, and hair care specialists, getting the right black hair care product should not be a big problem for you. For example, for the best black hair care products, Hair Products offers one of the best collections on the web.

You can find all your favorite products at affordable prices, new products to try, and all these accompanied by full descriptions and directions, and the quickest, most convenient order and shipping system you could hope for. The black hair care products have been designed for women and by women. Therefore whoever looks for black hair care products will be able to find what she/he is after. There are even black hair care products for children. So no one is left out.

Why do we have to be careful with black hair? Why do you need to use special black hair care products which are obviously designed to deal with black hair? Well, the composition of African and non-African hair is basically the same. What differs is the way the molecules are combined. The specificity of African hair makes it be more prone to breakage and dryness. Therefore black hair care necessities vary from those for other types of hair, which is why black hair care products are definitely a must in the case of African hair, black hair, so to say.

The elements making up our hair are the cuticle, cortex, melanin, follicle and sebaceous glands. Although you might think that black, African hair is tougher, you should know that black hair is actually more fragile than Caucasian hair and, therefore, needs more attention and needs to be treated with black hair care products. Generally, African/black hairs are more brittle, coarser, dryer and curlier than those of Caucasian hairs. Because of this, more complex care steps should be taken so as to use the best black hair care products to determine a good health state of the hair.

Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle Program – Pros & Cons

Nowadays, there are a lot of diet fads and trends that people follow. At first, they may lose weight, but generally, find that all the weight lost is very likely to be back once they resume their standard eating habits.

This plan, Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle is neither a fad nor a trend. It is developed and tested by a natural bodybuilder, Tom Venuto. The information, practiced by Venuto himself, explained in this 340-page e-book will help you, while burning fat, to live a healthier and leaner lifestyle that will last your life long.

This diet program is designed to preserve muscle, lean tissue, and water, while burning fat. The many benefits of this program include that it's a program for anyone and that anybody can follow it. Moreover, this program isn't so much a diet that limits as it is a resource to help you decide your own dietary and nutritional needs.

This plan is a definite, long-run solution and it works regardless if you follow each and everything in the book. Even if you only follow half the suggestions in the book, you still can become healthier.  Altogether, the book has plenty of information about your body and nutritional needs, as well as goal setting ideas.

Because of the great amount of knowledge contained in the book, some have found this to be a major con to the plan. The sheer fact that it's 340-pages worth of knowledge can be confusing to some people and instead of calling people to action, it will cause people not to take action.

If you’re really committed to a program and burning fat gradually and improving your overall health isn't what you're searching for, the Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle is possibly not the program for you to try.

This plan is not only a way for you to lose weight, it's a way to improve your overall health and increase your knowledge of the science behind food and nutrition.

The book offers tons of knowledge along with fitness and diet programs to help you achieve the best you possibly can be.  Although there are some complaints with Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle, it is still a great way to lose weight and get healthier without limiting routines.

A Young Man Makes an Appointment to See His Family Doctor About His Depression and His Problem Drinking

Larry finally decided to go and see his physician about his drinking behavior.  At first, Larry thought he would be able to essentially go online, look for some straightforward alcohol info, and establish whether or not he was addicted to alcohol.  Not surprisingly, he located more than a few websites that spelled out some of the general alcoholism symptoms. That’s the encouraging news.  The less than encouraging news, regrettably, was that Larry presented quite a few of these alcoholism symptoms.

Symptoms of Alcohol Addiction: Some Examples

For instance, Larry was drinking significantly more than usual and he was beginning to have more highly charged squabbles with the woman he was dating.  In the same way, for the first time in his young life he was going through sleeping issues.  In a similar manner, Larry often felt depressed and on a growing basis he had been demonstrating less than usual concentration while at work.

In the same way, he felt stressed out and more tense on a daily basis and for the past two or three months he had shown evidence of murky thinking while on the job.  Due to the fact that Larry manifested all of these symptoms, he was understandably uncomfortable about his unhealthy drinking.

So Larry finally made up his mind to call his physician and ask for an appointment.  Actually, this was challenging for Larry because his family doctor was also his parents’ family physician.  The springboard for his worry was this: at the risk of embarrassing his family, he had to go and divulge his reckless and hazardous drinking behavior to his healthcare practitioner.

When Larry arrived at the physician’s office, he openly told the healthcare professional about the apprehension he had about his abusive drinking behavior.  When the physician asked what was inducing this trepidation, Larry said that he had gone on the Internet and read about dependency on alcohol and especially about alcohol addiction symptoms.  He then listed all of the alcohol dependency symptoms that he undeniably thought he manifested.

An Inclusive Physical Exam and Outpatient Alcohol Rehabilitation

The healthcare professional notified Larry that it was wise of him to focus on his drinking problems, he gave Larry an inclusive physical evaluation, and recommended that he enroll in an out-patient alcohol rehab facility that was run by one of his doctor associates.

What is more, when Larry stated that he had been feeling depressed more regularly, the physician informed Larry that alcoholism and depression often come about in the same person.  For that reason, the healthcare practitioner also suggested that Larry obtain therapy to focus on his melancholy.

The Merit of  Facing Your Drinking Difficulties

The doctor made it a point to notify Larry that he might not inevitably be dependent on alcohol, but that he was clearly drinking in an irresponsible manner.  The healthcare professional then notified Larry that the reason he suggested alcohol treatment in the first place was because he wanted him to come to terms with his drinking difficulties, make sure that he stopped them from going from bad to worse, and start to live in a more healthy manner, even if it meant that he had to totally quit drinking.

In sum, by successfully treating his drinking difficulties, Larry would be able to get his problem drinking under control and quit the negative cycle that could doubtless result in alcohol dependency.

Plainly, Larry did not want to face the thought of enrolling in an alcohol rehabilitation facility.  Nor was he overjoyed about going to a counselor about his melancholy.  Irrespective of these apprehensions, to the contrary, Larry as a matter of fact felt some emotional relief for the first time in numerous months because at last he gave up making excuses for himself and finally made up his mind that he needed to do something affirmative about his drinking problems.
