My home air filters for my HVAC unit are so noisy!?

I have 3 air filters in my home, all ceiling installed. I have tried replacing them but it doesn't help. They make thumping noises when the air starts or stops and they also make odd cracking noises. I am pretty sure they are installed correctly (arrow pointing up towards ceiling). Does anyone have suggestions on how to make these less noisy?

The 3 filters are likely in the return grills of your air conditioning system. This means that arrows on the filters should be pointing into the duct system as this is the direction of air flow. That said, some people do use filters in the supply air diffusers, in this case the arrows will point into the rooms that they are in. The way to determine which you have is to feel with your hand to see which way the air is going and point the arrow in the direction of air flow.

The thumping noises are probably caused by the force of the air pulling the filters into the duct system. This is an indication that the filters do not fit tightly in their holders.

To correct this just see if there is some way to make the filter fit a bit tighter. you can use some foam weather stripping along one side of the track that the filter sits in or there may be some way to tape the filter into place. Anything that will make the filter fit tighter into place and prevent moving will help. It's hard to be specific without seeing. Send me a picture if you like.

I'm not sure what to say about the cracking noises. Are they some sort to electrostatic filter or something. Maybe the cracking noise is coming from an electronic air cleaner or something.

'99 Pontiac Grand Prix, will not stay active. Any suggestions or comments welcomed rude?

I'm desperate 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix with 3.8L F / I VIN K, supercharged. Automatic transmission. Last Sunday I had gone about five miles, the engine temperature was normal, everything seemed normal, and the car goes, while on the road. After having towed home and started troubleshooting. The OBDII codes no tank Fuel was in fourth so I added 4 gallons (another 1 / 4 tank) of premium unleaded with a bottle of cleaner and Heet injection. I've replaced the fuel filter, spark plugs, air filter and fuel pump. I can not hear a vacuum leak, but my view is not the best and I've only done visual inspections. After replace the fuel pump started the car and a fine of up to idle until the temperature indicator started showing. Then sputtered and died. In dealing to restart the thick clouds of black shouted out the tailpipe. Any other suggestions before taking it to a store?

the thick clouds of black smoke is key here. black smoke usually means that it is too rich in fuel. A common fault in the fuel delivery system is the fuel pressure regulator. the failure mode is that the diaphragm is broken internally and allows excess fuel to be drawn into the engine through the vacuum hose that supplies engine vacuum to the regulator. Another common fault on these engines is the air flow sensor mass. But that usually will not make you saw thick black smoke. In general, You can disconnect the maf sensor electrical connector and start the vehicle. the engine light check, but will be in the engine computer, pcm, runs in copy mode security using a default map-based fuel coolant temperature and throttle position. You can check the fuel pressure regulator by 1) leave the vacuum hose with the engine running, or 2) install a piece of clear suction hose from the engine to the regulator. If the regulator has failed, you see fuel spitting out the vacuum hose or you will see in the clear vacuum hose.

Denser air means more oxygen molecules enter the cylinders of the engine for better performance.

Reputable manufacturers of aftermarket air intake spend much time on R & D comes with a good design. You can design systems with restrictions very little, but they should also be concerned with your vehicle shot "check engine light." If your engine MAF (mass air flow) sensor also senses air molecules many may think that there is a problem like a leak in the intake system. This can trigger the "check engine light."

To avoid this many air intake design "trick" the MAF sensor so that it does not trigger an error condition. These tricks are intentionally adding restriction for the design, changing the cross section of the intake near the MAF sensor to alter the speed of the air, adding an obstacle within admission, close to the sensor by altering the flow of air into the sensor, and changing the depth or position of the MAF sensor. These "tricks" often result in adding a certain amount of restrictions on air intake design.

At least one air intake manufacturer has developed a new technology avoiding the use of "tricks" of the previous designs. They call it a system of electronically tuned TSI or making system. The design concept is air intake for a gain of great power, ignoring the MAF sensor. An electronic adjustment is made using a connecting device including the MAF sensor. In essence, the system of the TSI electronically communicates with the MAF sensor to ensure an accurate amount of fuel is being delivered even though consumption is different than the system size values. This allows the vehicle to maintain its calibration as provided by the factory while enjoying the benefits of a system designed to measure market accessories air inlet. The result is more horsepower and torque gains!

The first air intake TSI was released for the years 2008, 2009 and 2010 Scion tC with a 2.4 liter engine. The tC was tested for power at the wheels before and after installation of absorption by the manufacturer of admission. A maximum increase 9 horsepower was seen as a consequence of intake to 6400 rpm. This is a good power gain in a vehicle with a 2.4L engine. Another manufacturer of quality intake air has a traditional design of air consumption for the same Scion tC. Their testing data shows a maximum gain 8.09 horsepower at 5466 rpm. While The speeds of the engines is not the same at full power for the two air intakes, the energy consumption designed ETI performed over 11% higher than the traditional design. These results are promising for the TSI technology.

What remains to be seen whether these sensors to alter the designs take off air intake in the automotive aftermarket. Appears to open the potential for further gains energy without interfering with the system manufacturer's onboard computer.

Why is it so hard to breathe when diving to a depth of 1 m, and practically impossilbe to breathe deep to 2m? Why can not a diver simply breathing through a hose extends to the surface?

Lung capacity. You can breathe in and out enough to remove the tube and provide fresh oxygen. You end up just breathe the same air again. Also the water pressure that make it nearly impossible to inhale, that's why pressurized tanks as they are. Now If you are in shallower water and using 2 tubes, one on one and you can stay all day without problems.
